# Get the case history through REST API

Hello,

We are planning to use the community version of BonitaBPM.  
In the documentation of the REST API, I didn’t see any way to get the complete history of a case.  
Is it possible in the community edition to get the history of a case or do we need to upgrade our subscription to be able te make an API extension ?

You can write an extension without upgrading to subscription,you just need a model to work out how to do it.

There are some examples in the community edition, and also on the community projects forum.

First of all, thank you for your answer.

So the only way is to write an extension…  
After searching, I found your other post on the following thread: [http://community.ofelia.com/node/23664#node-23665](http://community.ofelia.com/node/23664#node-23665)  
This confirms that writing an extension is possible but has to be done manually with the community edition.
